SUPPORT SERVICES
The UPCS counseling and support services empower students to develop and maximize their full potential and meet their college and career goals. Our counseling team delivers a comprehensive, data-informed program that helps all students gain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for academic success, career exploration, and social/emotional development.
We partner with educators, families, and community members to advocate for equity, access, and success for all UPCS students. Our students have access to the learning, behavior, and mental health support needed to become successful, lifelong learners and productive citizens.

Homeless and Foster Care Services
The McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Improvements Act of 2001 guarantees the right to a free and appropriate public education to children and youth experiencing homelessness. This law mandates that schools eliminate barriers to enrollment, attendance, and success for homeless students.
The services provided under McKinney-Vento allow families to maintain their students’ educational stability, which is key to their educational trajectory and success. One of the act’s priorities is the provision of transportation services to allow students experiencing homelessness to remain in their school of origin, which is defined as the school they attended when they first experienced homelessness.
