Hybrid Return Jan. 2021 – LP Meeting Nov. 4

October 8, 2020

Dear Urban Pathways 6-12 Families:

We have been working towards a safe hybrid return for our students and teachers. Unfortunately, there have been some delays in construction regarding the additional safety precautions for students and staff. This, combined with the continued increase in COVID-19 cases in Allegheny County, has led us to decide that we must delay the hybrid start until January 2021. Many of you have told us how eager you are to reconnect with our school – and we are excited for that as well. But, we believe this extra time will help to ensure that the school and teachers are in the best position to deliver a safe and supportive environment for learning to take place. New dates for hybrid return will follow a phased reopening and that schedule will be shared with families in December.

Families are advised if they have any questions or concerns regarding the delay in hybrid return to contact Principal/CEO Kathleen Garland at kgarland@upcs.net or (412) 392-4601x 245.

Another opportunity to discuss questions and concerns with the Administrative Team is our new virtual office hours for parents and guardians. The Zoom information is included below.

Lastly, we are announcing that the new date for the November Learning Partnership Meetings is November 4, 2020. Election day, November 3rd, will be an asynchronous learning day, meaning that students will have assignments for their classes, but will not have to report to class at a specific time. They will need to complete their short assignment(s) by the end of the day, and teachers will be checking for student attendance that evening. We hope this will provide more flexibility for our families, teachers, and staff to be able to vote on November 3rd. We hope you are staying healthy and safe, and look forward to seeing you in January!

Sincerely,

Kathleen Garland

Principal/CEO
