African American Quiz Bowl

  • Community College of Allegheny County 808 Ridge Avenue Pittsburgh, PA, 15212 United States (map)

African American Quiz Bowl competition with neighboring schools at CCAC.

The African American Quiz Bowl is a knowledge-based competition of five rounds.  The questions will focus on African American history.  The rounds will focus on one of these categories: History, Famous People, Sports, Science, and Arts/Entertainment.  This competition is designed to test students’ knowledge of African American history and to bring students from different schools together for a fun, educational purpose.

Recognizing that Black History is a critical knowledge-base to students, in 2008, Northside Urban Pathways Charter School decided to sponsor the first Allegheny County-wide African AmericanQuiz Bowl.  The event is a quick-action knowledge competition with questions focusing on African American’s influence on History,  Science, Literature, Music, Art, and more.  Allegheny County high school students were invited to participate.

Today’s competition will help to highlight the contributions that  African Americans have made to history.  All participants will leave the competition as winners because of their increased awareness of those contributions.
